The National Lung Cancer Screening Program (the Program) launched on 1 July 2025. The Program aims to find lung cancer early and reduce deaths from lung cancer. Early detection can lead to more effective treatment options and improved outcomes for patients.
People are eligible for the Program if they are aged between 50 and 70 years and:
- show no signs or symptoms of lung cancer,
- currently smoke or have quit smoking in the past 10 years, and
- have a history of tobacco cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years.
Your healthcare provider can help you work out whether you’re eligible for the Program based on your age and smoking history.
For more information about the Program, talk to your doctor or visit the National Lung Cancer Screening Program website.
