Returning to work

Employers are legally required to accommodate the effects of an employee’s cancer diagnosis, but can request a medical examination to identify what work you can do and any adjustment they need to make.

This means you can return to work gradually, if needed. You can start with part-time hours, and increase your hours and duties as you become stronger, you can work flexible hours, and you can have time off to go to medical appointments.1

When you’re ready to return to work, talk to your healthcare team and your employer to develop a reasonable return-to-work plan.
