Consumer participation in research Grant Review Committees

As part of our goal to meaningfully include people affected by cancer in the agency’s work program, Cancer Australia has provided training to consumers to review the Additional Questions submitted to the Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme.

This training has occurred annually over the last three years and consumers are selected through an open merit-based application process. The consumers receive training over three days and a major component of the training is conducted by the Cancer Council NSW. Cancer Australia acknowledges the generous support and collaboration of the Cancer Council NSW in this process.

Consumers trained in reviewing Additional Questions grant information are eligible to become part of Cancer Australia’s Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme Grant Review Committees. In addition, these consumers can also be engaged in evaluating applications of other research projects.
