Research Overview

Lung cancer research priorities, agreed to by the Advisory Group, are included in the Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme 2010 Round. The priorities are:

  1. Research towards identifying barriers to timely and appropriate initial diagnosis and referral of people with suspected or diagnosed with lung cancer.
  • Research supported would include primary care research. Research with a specific emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from regional, rural and remote locations, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is strongly encouraged.
  1. Research towards demonstrating the clinical utility of potential biomarkers for lung cancer in a prospective validation collaborative multi-site study.
