Review of information resources for consumers and health professional
People affected by gynaecological cancers need access to the best possible information about their cancer to help them understand and actively participate in making decisions about their treatment and support options.
The Centre is conducting a review of existing information resources to examine the availability, currency and quality of information about gynaecological cancers for women, their families and caregivers, and health professionals. This review will inform the future development of resources for consumers and health professionals by identifying what resources are available and the quality of those resources, the gaps, and how best to provide access to evidence-based information. Our aim is to improve access to quality information for women diagnosed with gynaecological cancers, their families and caregivers, and health professionals.
The review will identify existing resources, including websites, pamphlets, posters, CD-ROMs, DVDs, videos and audio CDs that are:
- currently available in Australia;
- focused on gynaecological cancers, across the cancer control continuum (ie from prevention through to diagnosis, treatment and palliative care); and
- targeted at women diagnosed or at risk of gynaecological cancers, their families and carers, and health professionals.
The Centre has contracted GSB Consulting and Communications Ltd to undertake this work. The review will be completed in 2008.
