
The following is a list of national organisations for health professionals working in cancer care. It does not include the specialist medical colleges or cancer-specific organisations and societies who also play a significant role.
The Australian Cancer Network aims to improve cancer management in Australia by linking professional bodies and societies with an interest in cancer. It develops and disseminates evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and management of cancer, which are used in Australia and internationally.
More recently ACN has been working on improving the quality of cancer care by producing publications on accreditation of cancer services, credentialing of clinicians and implementation of guidelines.
The Clinical Oncological Society of Australia is the peak national body representing multidisciplinary health professionals whose work encompasses cancer control and care. COSA members are doctors, nurses, scientists and all allied health professionals involved in the clinical care of cancer patients. COSA is affiliated with and provides medical and scientific advice to Cancer Council Australia.
The Cancer Nurses Society of Australia is committed to achieving and promoting excellence in cancer care through the professional contribution of nurses. The Society has a membership of over 600 registered nurses dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education in cancer nursing.
The CNSA is the link between cancer nurses in Australia, the consumers of cancer nursing services, and other health professionals involved in cancer care.
The Medical Oncology Group of Australia is the peak representative body for medical oncologists in Australia. The Association works closely with Government, health organisations, affiliated international associations and societies, industry, consumer advocacy groups and learned colleges throughout Australia to improve and develop the profession of medical oncology and the management of cancer nationwide.
Palliative Care Australia's mission is to to influence, foster and promote the delivery of quality care at the end of life for all.
Palliative Care Australia’s members are the eight state and territory palliative care associations and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine. The membership of these associations includes palliative care service providers, clinicians, allied health professionals, academics, consumers and members of the general community.
