Collaborative Cancer Consumer Support Network Grants program
In collaboration with the state and territory Cancer Councils, Cancer Australia has developed a Collaborative Cancer Support Network Grants program.
This program incorporates and builds on rounds 1 and 2 of the Building Cancer Support Networks program. Together we will fund a cancer support project in each state and territory.
The aim of the Collaborative Cancer Support Networks Grants program is to strengthen the capacity, quality and availability of support networks for people affected by cancer. We’ve developed a nationally coordinated approach that will maximise the resources available to meet identified needs.
In addition, an open competitive Collaborative Cancer Support Networks Grants program Round 3 will provide grants in two identified areas of need:
1. Targeted Cancer Support Projects in the areas of:
- People affected by gynaecological cancers
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by cancer
- Adolescents and young adults affected by cancer
2. National Capacity Building Cancer Support Projects that can be generalised nationally, in the areas of:
- Innovative cancer support networks
- Rural and remote cancer support
- Culturally and linguistically diverse populations affected by cancer
These priority areas were developed after consultation with our National Consumer Advisory Group, Cancer Council staff and Cancer Support Network program officers and evaluation of the Cancer Support Networks Grants program.
A call for applications for funding – of up to $40 000 over two years (2007-2009) – was advertised nationally on 22 September. Applications closed on 9 November, 2007.
