Priorities and Programs

Cancer Australia’s initial priorities are to:

• enhance support, information and participation in decision-making for people affected by cancer,
• increase coordination and funding of cancer research, and actively support cancer clinical trials,
• improve access to cancer services,
• improve access to, and consistency in, cancer data collection,
• support professional development of the cancer care workforce,
• review national cancer control and cancer research activity and identify action to improve cancer outcomes in Australia, and
• establish and develop the National Centre for Gynaecological Cancers.

Our work is divided into the following main areas of focus:

• Research and clinical trials
• The National Centre for Gynaecological Cancers
• Education and service development, which includes improving cancer services,  improving cancer data and supporting and improving professional development resources for cancer professionals
• Consumer support, information and participation
