Advisory Groups
Cancer Australia aims to link with the wide range of stakeholders who inform and advise us on cancer priorities and programs.
One way we are effectively doing this is by forming expert National Advisory Groups, involving clinicians, consumers and others in Steering Committees for specific projects and through an inter-governmental Strategic Forum.
National Advisory Groups
Our National Advisory Groups provide advice and direction on a range of issues and activities undertaken by Cancer Australia. They recommend strategies and actions to improve cancer control and outcomes for people affected by cancer.
We have established National Advisory Groups, focused on:
- consumer interests,
- research, and
- improving cancer data.
Members were selected from nominations from a wide range of relevant national groups and organisations to ensure a broad spectrum of expertise and experiences, gender balance and geographic representation across Australia. Some members were invited directly due to their particular experience or expertise. We aim to include at least two consumer representatives on each group.
Strategic Forum
Cancer Australia has established an inter-governmental Strategic Forum, bringing together clinicians and senior health department officials from each state and territory government and the Australian Government for the first time.
The Strategic Forum provides advice on policy development and implementation to advance national cancer control activities in collaboration with the states and territories.
