  • Guidelines for preventive activities in general practice (The Red Book) 7th Edition.  South Melbourne: The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners 2009.

A synthesis of evidence-based guidelines from Australia and international sources, which provides recommendations for everyday use in general practice. The Red Book provides a single entry point to common conditions seen in Australian general practice and offers practical advice on what kind of screening and services should be provided to the general population. It identifies high risk segments of the population that require different preventive services. The Red Book also provides a list of screening tests of unproven benefit that are not recommended.

  • EdCaN (The Australian National Cancer Nursing Education Project), Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

EdCaN provides a framework and a set of capabilities outlining the role expectations of nurses working in cancer control. The project’s web-based resource materials, available via the Cancer Learning website, helps nurses acquire these capabilities. The framework and accompanying education resources are part of the broader cancer control efforts needed to reduce the burden of cancer in Australia.
